Ousmane Dembele In Barcelona

Ousmane Dembele is staring at an exit from Barcelona

Does Dembele have a place in Barcelona's future?

There is no doubt that Ousmane Dembele is one of the most talented youngsters in football right now.

His talents were undeniable during his teenage days at Rennes, and he didn’t have to wait long to earn a move to in 2016. However, his stay with Dortmund lasted only one year as Barcelona came knocking on the door.

The German side managed to make a nice profit on the youngster as they sold him at an initial fee of 105m Euros, making him the second-most expensive player in the world at the time.

However, Dembele’s progression has halted at the Catalan club, and questions have been raised about his future at the club. His first season in La Liga was affected by injuries, and he could make only 17 appearances in La Liga.

Following the World Cup success in the summer, many had expected him to finally kick-on at Barcelona.

However, the first half of the ongoing season has transpired altogether differently for him in Spain.

Ousmane Dembele has attracted a lot of negative attention for his disciplinary issues this season. He has received public criticism from his manager and his teammates for missing or arriving late at training sessions. The situation became worse when he went AWOL on November 8 with his club unaware of his whereabouts.

At that moment, it appeared that Dembele’s time at Barcelona is over. This kind of indiscipline was unheard of at big clubs, and it was evident that Dembele still has a lot of off-the-pitch learning to do.

At the same time, Dembele’s talent on the pitch is something which can’t be ignored. The France international seemed to have repaired some of the damage with his performances in recent weeks.

Dembele scored a stunning solo goal in the 1-1 Champions League draw with Tottenham. As the video clip of his effort was watched repeatedly on social media, it was evident that he still has a lot to offer at Barcelona.

He also put in a shift in the recent 5-0 league win over Levante. He played in the wing-back role, and his contributions were vital, in both attack and defense.

Furthermore, he has been involved in nine goals in his nine appearances for the Catalan club, and he has also received backing from his boss Ernesto Valverde recently.

There might include a lot of Dembele-related transfer rumors going around currently, but it appears he is not leaving Barcelona. For now.
